In February, Google made the decision to halt the image-generation capability of its AI-powered chatbot, Gemini, following user complaints regarding inaccuracies in historical depictions. For instance, when prompted to illustrate "a Roman legion," Gemini would present a portrayal featuring racially diverse soldiers, which was historically inaccurate. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, issued an apology for these discrepancies, and Demis Hassabis, the co-founder AI research arm at Google, DeepMind, assured that a solution would be swiftly implemented, possibly within a couple of weeks.
