OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has banned a bot that was imitating Congressman Dean Phillips for political campaigning. The bot, named Dean.Bot, was created by entrepreneurs Matt Krisiloff and Jed Somers, supported by a super PAC called We Deserve Better. This PAC, which received a significant donation from billionaire Bill Ackman, hired AI start-up Delphi to develop the bot for the New Hampshire primary. OpenAI suspended Delphi's account because using their technology in political campaigns violates their policies. Dean.Bot was taken down following this action. The bot was designed to interact with voters in real-time on a website, but researchers warn such technology could harm elections.
