The Financial Times has become the latest major news organisation to strike a content licensing agreement with OpenAI, the artificial intelligence company behind ChatGPT. Under the deal, the FT will allow OpenAI to train its AI models on the their archived content and display excerpts from FT articles in ChatGPTs responses. The agreement represents a strategic partnership, which aims to develop new AI-powered products and features to enhance the journalism prowess of FT while compensating the publisher for its content being used to expand generative AI capabilities of OpenAI.
