A serious security flaw was found in the XZ Utils library, affecting many Linux users. Versions 5.6.0 and 5.6.1 of the library have a backdoor that lets hackers get into systems without permission. This problem, found by a Microsoft researcher, could let attackers control Linux computers remotely. The bad code was added by a user named Jia Tan on GitHub, which has now shut down the XZ Utils project because of this. People using Fedora Linux 40 and other Linux versions like Kali, openSUSE, and Debian should switch to an older, safe version of XZ Utils to stay safe. No one has used this flaw to attack yet, but it's a big risk.
